Founded in 1918, Ridgewood is an independent elementary school serving Springfield, Ohio and its neighboring communities. Originally serving grades 1, 2 and 3, the school eventually expanded to include grades K through 8. Ridgewood was originally located in a building on Harding Road but is now located on a five-acre site situated in a semi-rural setting on the northwestern edge of Springfield. Ridgewood is the oldest, independent elementary day school in Ohio, devoted entirely to the individual and basic educational needs of children. Over the years, students have been enrolled at Ridgewood from Clark, Champaign, Greene, and Madison counties. Ridgewood is a member of the Ohio Association of Independent Schools (OAIS).
